Maple Glen
Maple Glen combined renovation and new construction to create a 17 room stand-alone hotel for FR&R. LLC and Main Street Hospitality, companies related to The Red Lion Inn. Pam Sandler of Stockbridge was Architect.
An existing building with an architecturally pleasing façade at the main southerly access into Stockbridge was to be renovated and a new, larger wing was built to match the architectural details of the existing structure. The former ‘Sweater Shop’ had been famous for its nooks and crannies, but it took significant work to bring the existing building up to code, both structurally and for accessibility. While the front of this building was old but sound, the rear addition to the sweater shop was inadequately constructed.
The work was undertaken with local bank and SBA loans, and was finished in time for the summer Tanglewood season.
